Content of an Undergraduate Research Proposal

Your research proposal should be able to include the following:

1. Title – your title should be able to provide a clear indication about your research approach.
2. Background and rationale – this should include the background or the issues involved in your research, the discipline, a short literature review, and a summary of the key debates and essential developments related in the field.
3. Research question – this must be formulated clearly and concisely and must provide an explanation as to what particular issue needs to be explored and why is it worth the effort to explore such.
4. Research methodology – in this section, you should be able to provide an outline of the theoretical resources, theoretical framework, research methodologies, and a discussion with regards to the advantages and the limitations of your approach and methods.
5. Usually, you will undergo two timelines: full-time study or part-time study. For full-time study, your research should be completed within three years with a write up in the fourth year of its registration. For part-time study, your research must be completed within six years with a write up in eighth year of its registration.
