Content of an Undergraduate Research Proposal
Your research proposal should be able to include the following:
- Title – your title should be able to provide a clear indication about your research approach.
- Background and rationale – this should include the background or the issues involved in your research, the discipline, a short literature review, and a summary of the key debates and essential developments related in the field.
- Research question – this must be formulated clearly and concisely and must provide an explanation as to what particular issue needs to be explored and why is it worth the effort to explore such.

- Plan of work and time schedule – you should be able to include an outline of the stages and timelines that are needed for the development and implementation of your research including the process you undergo in writing your thesis. Usually, you will undergo two timelines: full-time study or part-time study. For full-time study, your research should be completed within three years with a write up in the fourth year of its registration. For part-time study, your research must be completed within six years with a write up in eighth year of its registration.
