10+ Work Term Report Samples

Just like any other employee, everyone’s work has term. Every work term looks a little bit different, but planning ahead can help you stay on track and make the most of your experience. The work term(s) is similar in length to an academic semester and typically involves full-time work hours that may be paid or unpaid. In programs with limited work term opportunities, additional academic requirements and a passing grade on a communication assessment may be required for eligibility. Eligibility for participation does not guarantee a work position will be secured. Additional fees are required for those participating in the optional work term stream regardless of success in securing a work position. This should be made into a report to have it formalized. With this, our site gives you the best option to avoid making it from the very scratch. Choose among the templates below on what satisfies your needs the most.

Work Term Reports

A report is a document that presents information in an organized format for a specific audience and purpose. Although summaries of reports may be delivered orally, complete reports are almost always in the form of written documents. The work-term report is an important part of quality co-operative education programs. The assignment provides you with the opportunity to report on your experience with your employer and on how the experience related to your learning. Ideally, the report facilitates the integration of knowledge and practice.

Report Writing

Here are the main sections of the standard report writing format:

  • Title Section – This includes the name of the author(s) and the date of report preparation.
  • Summary – There needs to be a summary of the major points, conclusions, and recommendations. It needs to be short as it is a general overview of the report. Some people will read the summary and only skim the report, so make sure you include all the relevant information. It would be best to write this last so you will include everything, even the points that might be added at the last minute.
  • Introduction – The first page of the report needs to have an introduction.  You will explain the problem and show the reader why the report is being made. You need to give a definition of terms if you did not include these in the title section, and explain how the details of the report are arranged.
  • Body – This is the main section of the report.  There needs to be several sections, with each having a subtitle.  Information is usually arranged in order of importance with the most important information coming first.
  • Conclusion – This is where everything comes together. Keep this section free of jargon as most people will read the Summary and Conclusion.
  • Recommendations – This is what needs to be done. In plain English, explain your recommendations, putting them in order of priority.
  • Appendices – This includes information that the experts in the field will read. It has all the technical details that support your conclusions.

Remember that the information needs to be organized logically with the most important information coming first.
