What Is a Character Sheet?

A character sheet is a piece of paper or document that states a fictional character’s attributes, skills, choices of weapon, training, parental backgrounds, and other basic information like age, birthday, and race. This is typically used by story writers, video game designers, comic storyboard artists, and animation developers to help them visualize certain characters.

Like any document, your character sheet should have enough space to write on. You do not want yourself or your readers to read a sloppily-written, cramped character sheet that gets them more confused than enlightened. If you think you need to make improvements on your characters, you can use the space to jot down digits, additional information, notes, and other character references. You may not believe it, but white spaces are always a welcome change to any players/readers. 

3. Design Carefully and Accordingly

There is nothing wrong with relating your character sheet’s design to the concept of your comic/game/story. However, do not go overboard with the graphic design you are about to incorporate into your sheet. Always keep in mind that the main purpose of your character sheet does not focus on aesthetics alone. Your margins should not make it look like your paper’s cramped. 4. Ease Up On the Mechanics
