In private companies, the functions of a logistics specialist are pretty much the same as the military aspect although the materials, stocks, and supplies are quite different. Since his primary function is to obtain materials from different sources, he must be knowledgeable in import and export rules among different countries and regulations that could potentially limit the supply capacity of the company.

Besides knowing the rules and regulations of different countries, the logistics specialist must also process prepositioned pick lists to be retrieved from the warehouse and placed into numbered bins for outgoing shipments. These are just some of the responsibilities expected of a competent logistics specialist besides the usual tasks of inventory and supply recordings.
